My Bus Trip to the Homestead

This past Saturday, I took a bus trip to the Longaberger Homestead in Dresden, Ohio. This is my second trip up there, and I had lots of fun. A consultant here takes a bus load of about 40 people up to The Homestead and she is such a nice host. For the money we get a Longaberger basket, a wrought iron candle holder, and coupons for the shops in Dresden. On the way up she fed us Ham biscuits and fruits. She had snacks if we wanted them, crackers, candy, you name it. Several different bottles of water, pop, and juice. We also had some homeade pepperoni rolls that her mom makes, and they are really good.
We played bingo on the way up, I won three times, I got dip mixes and a Cheddar Potato Soup mix that Longaberger had out.
Any way, once we got up there we got to go to the factory outlet. There you have a chance to buy the baskets that are retiring, pottery that was retiring, and some liners and protectors. They also had a spot for the Seconds Baskets. These are the ones that didn't meet up to the same expectations as the firsts. These are about 1/2 off the regular price, and some of them are just a shade off on the color, or have a crack that isn't that noticeable, I bought 2 baskets off the seconds rack. One is in the shape of a heart and isn't very tall, and the height and color are perfect to put toothbrushes in, in my bathroom. The other one is a picnic tote basket. I am not quite sure where I am going to use this one yet.
The pics above are at the Homestead. The one is of me in front of the biggest apple basket this year. And the beautiful flowers in bloom there. The one is in the Homestead Store looking down into the Lobby. This is like a little mall where you can buy their food products, kitchen products, clothing, and their purses. I bought me 2 purses and I picked up a few things for my friends that they asked me to look for. The last two are of the same kind of basket, it is a hostess basket or a consultant basket, anyway, this is the basket I would love to have, it is big enough to make a coffee table out of it, all you do is put a piece of glass on top of it. I actually seen this basket in one of the shops in Dresden used as a coffee table and then I seen it for sale in another store. It was $250 and I would have loved to have bought it, but that is high and my husband would have killed me if I bought it. So I will just be happy with the little ones that I bought and just keep wishing for the other one.
Well, I hope everyone has a good rest of the week.

First Camping Trip of the Year

Last weekend, we decided to go camping to try out the pop-up that we bought off of Sheryl and Matthew. We didn't go far from home. We just went to Pipestem for two nights. It rained Friday night and was a little on the cold side. Luckily we had heat. Saturday we went around the park and took in some sights, and the kids fished a little. That night we had a fire and roasted marshmallows and hot dog weiners.
Saturday night it actually sleeted or hailed, and it was so cold that the metal on the inside of the camper had condensation. When we left on Sunday and went home, we had to set up the camper so that it could dry. It was that wet and icy on the outside. But we had a good time, and got to spend time with each other which is something that we rarely get to do. We also decided to rename the camper to cramper because it is crampy on the inside with 5 of us in there at one time. So we will have to wait for the weather to get better before we go camping again.
